In this article, we will discuss how to easily create Lorem Ipsum text in Figma with a plugin.

Figma designs look their best when there are all the elements present and content is visible in the design, no matter if it's simply lorem ipsum text.

How to Install the Lorem Ipsum Plugin

This plugin is your best companion to fill your design with decent dummy text.

First of all, you need to install this plugin. Just go to Figma community and search for Lorem Ipsum.

You will find the “Explore Community”, like in the below screenshot:

Once you see the community page, you just look for the search box and type this plugin name: Lorem Ipsum.

Next, filter the search results by clicking the “Plugins” options on the right sidebar, as it will show only plugins from the search results.

As a general rule of thumb, check for a plugin with a good rating and more active installs. For my project, I used this “Lorem Ipsum” with 5-star rating and 673k installs.

Now, install this plugin and go back to your design file.

Generate Lorem Ipsum

I am here on my deisgn file in Figma and I will create a box for inserting text. You can create a custom frame or box or any page where you need to add text.

I placed a rectangle box and then added the text “hello” - it is just a random word, but it will serve our purpose. This “hello” text will be replaced automatically with Lorem Ipsum text when generated.

Now right-click and select Plugins and you will see Lorem Ipsum.

The plugin screen will ask how many sentences or words do you want to add. It is your choice how much content you want.

Just choose the desired setting:

After you hit the “Generate” button, the old text will be replaced by newly generated dummy text. You can also edit these words, sentences, or paragraphs.

I am going to select 10 sentences, and hit the generate button, after that, I will arrange them in paragraphs. Check the final screenshot of my project.

Why would you need Lorem Ipsum text?

Your design project may need some kind of text to explain and make it more understandable.

In the early stage of design, the text might not be finalized. The content team might yet be working on their part.

At that time you can't hold the design process and can't wait. This dummy content (Lorem Ipsum) is a great solution to show content in your design when you don't have the final copy of the content ready.
